Reconciliation in Sierra Leone

On September 26, 2016, Oeindrila Dube, the Philip K. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies, participated in a Behavioral Science Workshop at Chicago Booth. Her presentation was entitled, “Can the Wounds of War be Healed? Experimental Evidence on Reconciliation in Sierra Leone.”

Aims of Policy

On September 19, 2016, James Robinson, the Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies, delivered an address at the Oriental Institute entitled, “Policy for Development: Aims of Policy.” He argues that a very different approach to public policy may be necessary to change the equilibrium in underdeveloped countries.

BIG Workshop

In July 2016, The Pearson Institute hosted an interdisciplinary workshop on global conflict after it was awarded a BIG (Big Ideas Generator) Workshop Grant. It was attended by a select group of military leaders, public health professionals, social scientists, humanitarians, and front line interventionists. The workshop focused on establishing collaborative relationships between policy makers and exploring the data inputs required to answer the most pressing questions around conflict. It highlighted the complexity of the conflict policy space and the important data challenges we face.
