2021 | Miriam Coronel-Ferrer

The fourth annual Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Lecture featured Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, Former Senior Mediation Adviser at the UN and Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer became the world's first-ever female chief negotiator to sign a final peace accord when the government of the Philippines reached the 2014 agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Husam Zomlot

The third annual Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Lecture featured Ambassador Dr. Husam Zomlot, Head of Palestinian Mission to the UK and Strategic Affairs Advisor to the Palestinian President. Dr. Zomlot was previously Ambassador to the United States (Head of the PLO General Delegation to the United States).

Jonathan Powell

The second annual Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Lecture featured Jonathan Powell, Director and Founder of Inter Mediate, a charity that works on conflict resolution around the world. Mr. Powell was Chief of Staff to Tony Blair from 1995 to 2007 and was Chief British Negotiator on Northern Ireland from 1997 to 2007, during which he played a key role in the peace process that led to the Good Friday Agreement. The agreement ended thirty years of sectarian violence known as The Troubles.

Sergio Jaramillo

The inaugural Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Lecture featured Sergio Jaramillo, former Colombian High Commissioner for Peace. Sergio Jaramillo revealed his strategy behind the historic peace accord that ended more than 50 years of violent conflict in Colombia. As High Commissioner for Peace, Jaramillo served as the Colombian government’s chief strategist throughout the peace process, spending six years in intense negotiations with Colombia’s largest guerrilla group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Jaramillo explained how he built an agreement that seeks to restore democratic participation, strengthen institutional accountability, and allow citizens to live free from fear.
