Amanda Gu

MPP Candidate '26

Amanda Gu is a first-year MPP student at the Harris School of Public Policy and hails from Vancouver, BC. Led by a passion for conflict resolution and equitable growth, her research interests span across international relations to energy and sustainability.

Before coming to Chicago, she obtained her Bachelor Degree at Vanderbilt University and worked as an research assistant for the University’s Research on Conflict and Collective Action (ROCCA). Under the generous guidance of Professor Andrew Coe and Professor Peter Schram, she delved into research on counterterrorism, grayzone conflict, and interstate conflict. Post graduation, Amanda worked with various nonprofits on issues including cybersecurity, disinformation, and digital democracy.
