Wyatt Hartwig

MPP Candidate '26

Wyatt Hartwig is a first-year MPP student at the Harris School of Public Policy. His areas of interest include U.S. Foreign and Security Policy, governance systems, regulatory compliance, and urban planning. Wyatt is especially interested in security relationships, assistance, and cooperation between the U.S. partner nations.

Prior to attending Harris, Wyatt worked for military intelligence in the U.S. Army. He held various roles including leadership, mentoring, program manager, and multi-national intelligence liaison. From 2022-2023, Wyatt supported counter-terrorism operations in the Sahel and partner capability development. He performed logistical support functions and interpreted between senior U.S. military officers and French personnel for D-Day commemorations in 2023. Wyatt is also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute, Farsi schoolhouse.

Wyatt earned his Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Global Studies and French as well as a minor in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019. As an undergraduate, he also earned a certificate in Arms Control, Domestic, and International Security. Wyatt was a teaching assistant for Nuclear Arms and Arms Control, participated in mock U.S. congressional debate, interned for the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and attended Sciences Po Paris as an exchange student from 2018-2019.
