Peizan Sheng holds an MSc in Applied Economics from Cornell University and a BS in Mathematics from Renmin University of China. His research interest lies at the intersection of poverty measurement, poverty dynamics, and machine learning methods.
Prior to joining Harris, he was a research assistant to Professor Chris Barrett. In the master's thesis, he constructed an internationally-and-intertemporally comparable, structural asset poverty measures. These measures are founded in theory, linked directly to official poverty lines, and are amenable to ML-based prediction using Earth Observation (EO) data.
